Ice Bucket Challenge aka videos how people pour cold water with ice on themselves rules the world of internet. Famous people such as Demi Lovato, Ryan Tedder, Adam Sandler, Bil Gates, Justin Timberlake, Mickey Rourke, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears or Barack Obama took this challenge and also donated money for research that could help find a cure for terrible disease ALS.
The purpose of this challenge is to fight against one dangerous ilness ALS- Amyotrophic Lateral Sceloris. It is progressive and fatal neurological disease that attacks neurons responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. It means that people can not control their legs, arms or face. There is a drug- riluzole- that can reduce damage to neurons but still no cure has been found.
The rules of challenge is easy. After you are challenged on video you have 24 hours to make video where you are taking this challenge. You nominate another people and then you pour ice water ond your head or donate money for ALS. Most of people do both.
According to the New York Times people shared more than 1.2 million videos on social networks as Facebook or mentioned Ice Bucket Challenge on Twitter more than 2.2 million times. Also they reported that ALS Association has recieved 41,8 million dollars from July to August 2014. It is almost unbelievable.
ALS is one of the most common neuromuscular disease worldwide but there is not many people who know about it. Corey Griffin is co-founder of Ice Bucket Challange. Doctors have diagnosed ALS his friend and that was the reason why he started helping with Ice Bucket Challenge. It is irony that 16. of August he died while he was diving in Massachusetts.
